Yunnus Sayad

Pursuing his PhD in economics, Yunus Sayyad was forced to leave his education after being diagnosed with B-Cell Precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (BCP-ALL). Unfortunately, Yunus’s education is not the only thing he is responsible for. Being the eldest sibling in his household, Yunus often spent his free time caring for his bedridden father, aging grandmother, and his two school-going siblings. Additionally, Yunus always helped his mother manage the Rs. 3000 she brought home every month to make ends meet for his entire family.

After months of symptoms ranging from loss of appetite to weight loss and vomiting, Yunus was taken to the doctor for a routine checkup. After a blood test revealed low hemoglobin and a low platelet count, Yunus was advised to investigate his bone marrow. Upon investigation, Yunus was diagnosed with BCP-ALL.

Once treated for his cancer, Yunus wishes to complete his doctorate and support his younger brothers and sisters who are studying.

Mangal Hajare

From what started as a mere fever, body ache and weakness, Mangal was taken to her local doctor in Solapur, Maharashtra for a routine checkup. After being investigated, Mangal’s results showed low hemoglobin and a low platelet count. She was immediately treated with a blood transfusion; however, this did not help her condition. After being moved to a hospital in Sangi to further manage her condition, Mangal was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Once treated for her cancer, Mangal wishes to be reunited with her family and support her son in pursuing a further education.
